Not Impressed., January 2, 2012 By This review is from: Braun 3Series 340S-4 Wet & Dry Shaver (Health and Beauty) I have been using Remington shavers for years, but since they started coming from China, the build quality has been steadily declining. They recently redesigned the screen and cutter to make it cheaper to produce and rendered it virtually useless. I decided to jump ship and paid quite a bit more for a Braun, thinking they might still be made in Europe. WRONG! They're made in China like most everything else these days.
I have been using the Braun Series 3 model 340s for the better part of a year now and here's what I found. It seems to take half again as long to complete a shave as the older Remingtons and it's nearly impossible to remove all the hair from the neck area just below the chin. Granted, that's not easy to do, but the Braun has a special screen and cutter in between the main screens that's supposed to get the longer hairs. It doesn't cut them and tends to pull them instead. My four-o'clock shadow appears a little after noon time. Now, my beard is neither... Read more

Really love this Shaver, January 16, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Braun 3Series 340S-4 Wet & Dry Shaver (Health and Beauty) This Braun 340S-4 is so much better than my previous Braun shaver. The older version (5776) was flimsier. Compared with the older 5776, the construction of the 340S-4 is superior in every way. The Cutter-Foil Cartridge is solidly designed albeit expensive. The 5776's Cartridge was a mess and the trimmer kept disconnecting from the main body of the shaver. I am glad that Braun fixed this in the 340S-4 model.
I shave every day, and I shave my full head, not just my face. I find this Braun 340S-4 to be very comfortable, close shaving, well made and non-irritating. I have nothing to say against this shaver, but it IS on the pricy side.
I do have to rework some areas of my head and face to get the shave that I want, but I so far have not seen any shaver that did better.
I get three shaves from a single charge which is better than the 5776 did, but I miss the fact that the 5776 allowed me to shave while charging, which the newer 340S-4 does not (it... Read more

I sent for this Braun from Amazon and received it within a few days. I used it and was pleased. It did a very good job. I will not go back to the old way of shaving.
